1) Setup a job search goal.
You may say I just want to bring home a paycheck. Believe it or not, this simpler goal may be the toughest to achieve
You need to consider the job location, salary expectation, career goal, short term or long term, part-time or full-time,
working hours and benefit.
This is my job search goal. Later I got the job as my plan.
Job search Keyword: computer, programmer, web developer, physics, analyst, epidemiology, mathematical modeling, C++, Matlab
Full time, prefer in Vancouver, fine for other cities in Canada
get a job in 8 months, modify action plan after first 4 months
2) Job search plan
Average 3 applications per day
search for hidden job market, cold call and networking
3) To do list:
Prepared several cover letters and resume. Done
Prepare tests and interview. Ongoing
Contact referees and people in networks. Done
Put keyword in job search engine to send to email. Done
List of job search websites. Done
Produce company leads in Vancouver. Ongoing.
Average 3 applications per day. Ongoing.
List all the skills and apply as many jobs as possible,
Go for it!
You will get a job, eventually. Really! |
