LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Dish Network Corp. DISH +1.64% is in talks with various potential partners to create a wireless telecommunications network, including recent exploratory talks with Internet major Google Inc. GOOG -0.81% , according to a Wall Street Journal report Thursday citing unnamed sources. A Dish-Google network would seek to rival major players in the space, including AT&T Inc. T -1.07% and Verizon Wireless, the joint venture between Verizon Communications Inc. VZ -1.28% and Vodafone Group PLC UK:VOD +0.16% VOD -1.45% , the report said. However, the report also cited a source as saying that the discussions were at an early stage "and could amount to nothing." |
